Our Community Trade partner, the Roaring Water Bay Seaweed Co-operative in Ireland, was formed in 1999 to address the problem of local youths migrating to the U.S. and Britain to find work. The co-op decided alternative economies needed to be developed locally and looked to the sea for a viable industry. By supplying different types of seaweed to the beauty, food, pharmaceutical and farming industries, they have built a brighter future for their community.
