Turns out that the gel experience is quite different. Different in a good way, since results that came with its use were totally unexpected. I actually didn’t expect it to moisturize my skin the way it has. The gel sank right into my skin and kept it conditioned throughout each day. The extent to which it kept my skin smooth and supple is decent and for that reason I give it a 3. The gel did give a radiant glow but lacked that ‘buttery’ feel creams are known for. So all in all, does the gel deliver on it’s promise to help treat dry skin? Partly. Is this the holy grail of dry skin treatments out there on the market? Unfortunately no. I will say that I did not love the greasy feel it has upon application even though this does go away once the product has been absorbed. My thoughts? Texture - I'm not the biggest fan of gel products for my body mainly because of how greasy they can become. This product was no exception. It is a little greasy after application, so you do need to wait a while before the product is absorbed into your skin. Otherwise, it can stain delicate clothing or you could get finger marks on objects and surfaces. Effectiveness - Yes, this is actually really good at relieving my dry skin! It's perfect for right after you've taken a shower and your pores are a litte more open to absorb the product a little better. It also gives you a lovely glow, which I love for when I'm going out and wearing shorts - my legs looked amazing with this gel applied! Price - whilst I would repurchase this, there are other products that I would buy over this one. I don't think this is something that I see myself consistently using on a day-to-day basis; more for 'every now and then'. But in terms of its price, it is value for money as I see the 200ml tub lasting me fore 3+ months. I use it twice every day on my whole body. At first it was great, seemed like the perfect product to replace my lotion but as winter became more and more intense, my view shifted a little. I suffer from dry skin through out all seasons but of course winter is the worst. I loved this product when I first started using it but now I'm realizing that I have to apply petroleum jelly to assist it. When I apply it, my skin does feel amazingly smooth but after a few hours, my ankles, heels, knees and elbows call for more attention. And so I apply petroleum jelly on them. I started noticing this on colder or windy days in early to mid June. I had high hopes for this product and in a way it did not disappoint, it works better that most I've tried and it's non greesy. The packaging is also very convenient because after applying it, you don't have to deal with the stress of closing a rotating cap with lotioned hands. The product does have a rather weird smell but not enough to bother me. It is also a little pricey but that's to be expected from Bio oil. The container is user friendly with a flip lid which is easy to open and to access the product. The gel has a pink colour tint to it and it looks like a see through gel. Its got a touch of an oily feeling to it but does not make the skin feel oily when applying. A tiny pea size goes a very long way and makes the skin feel absolutely amazing! One pea size can cover my one entire leg. THOUGHTS Being a dry skin sufferer I can honestly say I am obsessed with this product! From having to apply creams and lotions to my skin more than once a day, to NOT look somewhat like a scaly fish, I now have to apply this gel once and night and my skin looks amazing! With the skin gel I have only had to moisturise once a day AND my skin remains moisturised and super soft to the touch all day long! My only down side to this product is that, as a bio oil product, you would expect it to have all the skin renewing and regenerating ingredients that the oil has BUT it doesn't - it is purely a moisturising product with no scar and stretch mark reducing capabilities.
