The silicon really cleans and dries quickly after use and it has all the different sizes for different brushes. Does not work great for sponges (I recommend your hands and soap and then microwaving the sponge after to kill all the germs). You can easily make a dupe for this egg though with a hot glue gun on a suitable surface. The larger ridges work well for cleaning larger brushes and the smaller top section works well for smaller brushes. Best used with a mild cleaning agent such as baby shampoo. I just apply soap on the small knobs, lather up my wet brush, use the groves to separate the bristles so dirty can easily be released, rinse them off and I'm done. You can use any gentle cleansing liquid to clean your brushes with using this gadget, I like using hand wash.
