You don't even need to wet your hair for this to be effective. It absorbs very quickly and is perfect for daily use. My hair remains soft till the next day. If this was to become a my go-to range for my wash-day, what would happen in the interim after I wash and condition my hair? Would I have to wait for my hair to air dry to moisturize it? It does not make sense to me. Being the rebel that I am,I used it straight after spritzing my hair with my water mixture and began applying the butter throughout my hair. I did not enjoy the smell, it has a detergent like smell and my hair looked sticky rather than moisturized. Probably works differently on hair that's dry so I will try it again… but on dry hair this time. Although through the Research and Development stage, Dark and Lovely should have noted and been aware that ethnic hair needs tons of moisture which is mainly water. To create a product that is recommended after shampooing and conditioning, it does not make sense to wait for hair to dry to moisturize it? Maybe the Plaiting Pudding Cream is for after conditioning and the Afro Butter is for use after such time as you've wash and dried your hair then just as a moisturizing agent? I'm not sure. Second the consistency: It did not feel weighed down at all. the consistency is quite thick but what is really great is that it does not leave any gross residue on your hands after application so when I applied it to my hair, it was quickly absorbed and left my shiny, moisturized ( not greasy) and my curls defined. It has a nice hold as well, so it's a nice emergency if you've run out of your edge tamer. I’m excited to try this out on my hair as part of the “C” in the LOC method. However I maintain that this range is great value for the natural on a budget. Let’s be real, a lot of natural hair products come for a pretty penny, especially if you’re looking for healthy ingredients and effective results. The D&L Au Naturale Plaiting Pudding Cream and Afro Moisturising Butter have both these things, but at a reasonable price comparatively. I have type 3B/C hair and intended to LOC using these as my L and C. The Plaiting Pudding Cream was so thick that even putting another product on was going to leave me looking like Severus Snape for sure. I hacked it by thinning it down to a more liquid form with water and it worked just as well as my usual R120 styling cream. It mixes well with other products, if you’re into that vibe (no white residue) and defined my curls, holding it’s own as well. I sealed with a light oil and I was good to go. This product has some serious potential as it can work for type 3 and 4 hair.
