I section my hair into 8 small sections and apply to each section, combing it through to make sure it goes in. Then I twist each of the 8 sections to keep my hair stretched. You can do this to fewer sections, depending on your hair length. It is light weight and doesn't weigh down my hair. It completely dissolves once it dries up and I don't end up with white flakes on my hair. It smells delightful like the rest of this Aunt Jackie's range. It's kind of like a signature scent, like the bright colours that you cannot miss when you're doing your shopping. It leaves my hair soft and my wide tooth comb glides through, making it fairly easy to detangle my hair. My hair stays soft for days, making moisturising it a breeze when I follow with my oil and butter to seal in the moisture. It's a constant repurchase for me and I recommend it especially when you have very coily hair. The leave-in just clings onto my hair follicles keeping them smooth and hydrated. Of course you must seal this in, else it will go to waste. The leave-in contains Marshmallow Root and I believe it makes all the difference. Marshmallow Root is great for soothing and relieving the scalp and hair but it’s also super slippery so it’s great for getting and keeping those knots out of your hair. I had to use quite a lot of it before I felt like my hair had enough in it.. So I decided instead to massage it in, put on a shower cap, wait 10 minutes and then apply some more and I think that helped. I finger combed my hair in small parts and it de-tangled pretty well! I had serious knots in there so I just gently tugged with my fingers and stretched and massaged it, and the conditioner was nice and creamy and my hair smoothly detangled. I am very happy about that beçause it gave me a headache last week. Detangling and re-twisting my hair took about 25 minutes so I left the conditioner in there for about 35 minutes total. Rinsed it thoroughly and my head feels really light and fresh and my hair is soft, stretchy, and feels strong and moisturized.. and smells really really yum. So positives: Magic de-tangler, smells delish, feels really good. Only negatives would be that I had to use a ton of it. I used about 10 big squeezes, about 6 cm of the bottle.. So it would go about 4 washes max. But i'd definitely use it again because detangling is a big thing for me and I would love if it was made easier. It smells divinely tropical and its'value for money. The consistency is quite thick, thicker than your average conditioner, which isn't a problem. In stead this is great for heat sealing ( put on a shower cap, add some heat to open up hair shaft for max absorption). Because it's so thick you don't need to use a large amount per wash so it lasts much longer. After use my hair was soft, clean, clear and light-weight. Inf act I used the conditioner as shampoo for two weeks and it worked perfectly. I normally have a scalp reaction when I use a conditioner, but I did not have any this time. At first I wasn't too impressed with this one as my hair did not respond well to it. The kinks were still there and I couldn't feel the "slip" I was expecting. I had to let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and only then my hair started softening. The end result was not outstanding but satisfactory none the less. I do wish it came in a bigger bottle though because our hair needs a generous amount of conditioner to get the maximum effect. I have only used it twice and it's almost finished. The price is reasonable though. It is a water-based conditioner with the same smell as the shampoo but it’s just a little faint. The conditioner is not that thick but it is creamy. I applied it to my scalp with a spray bottle and it felt like I’m spraying water on my scalp. The usage directions on the bottle state that you must leave the product on the hair for 5-15 minutes and detangle and rinse. (I’m not sure who detangles while washing their hair, when it’s wet & fragile?) But I won’t be using this product to “deep condition” . It’s not thick enough to coat my thick strands and I can see that it won’t do anything to moisturise my hair. I was a bit reluctant adding yet another 5 mins to our hair washing routine but went ahead and used the conditioner. I LOVE the results. It does not need to sit in his head forever. I apply, massage his head a bit and then rinse. Rinsing is a breeze- there's nothing worse than rinsing over and over because of conditioner residue in your hair and I didn not find it with this product. The product has the same smell as the shampoo. The results were super soft hair. Even before drying his hair I could see a major difference in the texture and feel of his hair. I have used this conditioner for myself- and I love it too. I have a sensitive scalp and it worked wonders for my scalp and hair. I honestly which it 20-30% cheaper. PS: Look out for specials...clicks often has 3 for 2 product special. Moisture: Now I get that one does need to use a moisturiser on your hair but for a product for people with Kinky/Curly I would appreciate it if the product provided a decent amount of moisture as well. This product provided "'NUN o DAT" :( for a 100 bucks...they could do better. Effectiveness: The product has a lovely minty type smell which I love and applied very easily. My hair becomes dry quicker when I do not use the product verses when I do. I did repurchase this product however I will be trying out other brands to find one that provide a little more moisture does more. Weight of product: The product is very lightweight you can use other products with this leave-in without leaving your hair limp. I personally now mix the leave-in with olive oil, shea butter and water. Availability: I have only found this product at Clicks Chris Hani in the east rand. I've been using this range since it came out, so I was ecstatic to review it. After cleaning my toddler's hair with the Soft & Shiny Shampoo after a day of exploring in the garden, I use a generous amount on his hair, work it through and leave for a little bit before rinsing. Now, please note that if you use too much on short hair, it will get messy. I would suggest use as much as your baby's hair needs, and depending on how much hair your baby has. I use a little bit more than usual when I just co-wash his hair. AN IMPORTANT NOTE: As we do with our own natural hair, it's so important to de-tangle your baby's hair while it's wet and while there's conditioner on it to create "slip" i.e. make it easier for the comb to slide through the hair as you go. Johnson's Soft & Shiny Conditioner creates a lovely "slip" for me and makes it so much easier to de-tangle his hair, and make his little curls pop! Please DO NOT use a thin toothed combed or baby combs on your child's natural hair? Just like ours, it'll only break or tangle the hair further. Rather use an afro comb - which I use - or a wide toothed comb to de-tangle and comb through effectively. Did I mention the smell is absolutely amazing? During some time last year I decided to actually start taking care of my hair and I researched countless blogs and youtube pages and everybody was raving out the ORS range and more specifically, the Replenishing Conditioner. I have to say, I went from being a relaxer girl, had a big chop a couple of years ago to see if I could fix my texture. I kept my hair in its natural state for most of University and then decided to texlax my hair in the beginning of 2015. And at the same time I was advised to try the ORS range because its good for African Hair and has a whole lot of natural products in it. I use the Replenishing Conditioner after a wash when I take my weaves / wigs out or if I do not have a weave or wig in, then I use it to co - wash because it is quite moisturizing if you do not start with a shampoo and can clean the hair quite well as a co - wash, so my hair stays moisturized and clean, all at the same time. The product also helps with damaged / dry hair, which I suffer from, this is the product for you. Shampoo (because of sulfates) tends to make natural hair dry, brittle and super course and therefore tangles a lot. One of the shampoos I keep going back to is Sunsilk. The one I am using now was Co created by Thomas Taw, dry and damage repair expert from London. This shampoo is a fusion of of 2 ultralight oils -Argan and Babassu. These oils deeply nourish hair fibre and restored lost mositure, whilst sealing the hair cuticle to diminish rough hair fibres. Perfect to use if, like me, you have dry hair. Works in every way to make my day frizzy hair look and feel smooth,shiny and silky. Having oils make up the shampoo, I thought it would leave my hair greasy, but it doesn't at all. My hair appears softer and more manageable and I love the smell too. Due to it being a protein based conditioner and me not owning a hooded dryer I always kept it on for the minimum of 30 minutes. One has to make sure that you follow up with a moisturizing deep condition to balance the protein/moisture in your hair. I used this product once a month or as I felt my hair needed it.. I don't advise using this every week as it can cause protein overload which will result in dry, breaking hair. Would I buy it again: Maybe, I've just found that using egg yellow with coconut or olive oil makes get protein treatments as well. This leave-in conditioner pumped back some life into my tired tresses. It is a great leave-in conditioner which has become a staple in my hair care regimen. I apply it on towel-dried hair and at times on my dry hair for the much needed moisture. It always leaves my hair moisturised and feeling soft because of the moisturising blend of vitamin E and silk proteins. I have noticed that I experience less breakage and splitting because of the keratin which strengthens and protects my hair. This product also contains silicones which are supposed to gently detangle and give hair a vibrant sheen. I have experienced the detangling part but not the vibrant sheen. I liked the slightly minty scent and you could clearly see the herbs that are infused in the treatment. the consistency was thick and I felt confident that this treatment will be giving me the results I was hoping for. I applied a generous amount and immediately felt the cooling sensation of the minty herbs. Since I was doing this at home and don't have one of those Salon dryers to sit under, i covered my hair with a shower cap and used my hand held blowdryer. I blew my hair for about 5 minutes, then left it alone for 10 minutes. I then rinsed my hair and the conditioned came out easily. I would see the little bits of herbs also coming out. My hair felt very soft after removing all the conditioner and I was ready to start blowing it dry. The product claims to instantly repair your hair and with noticeable results after the first application. Based on my experience, I will state that this was not the case. My hair was softer, but it was still breaking. I've made two applications in two weeks, and my hair is still breaking, albeit not as much as it was BEFORE i started using this product. So, I'm hoping a couple of more treatments will give me good results.
