This footfile is washable and reusable as well which makes it a perfect buy, my only concern is the price. Essie is a trusted name in Nail care and you won't go wrong with this product. It glides on in a thick coat and dries rather quickly. It really gives a good quality gel looking finish. I have used this with a variety of cheap to expensive nail polishes and it genuinely makes all of them look incredible. My nail polish has never last more than 2 days at work due to the heavy duty products I have to handle and after using this product my nails now look super rad for the whole week. I recently got the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail Care System and I think it is so amazing. This made me wonder why I didn’t own one of these and most importantly, that I had never really seen a nail gadget like this before. 

This three in one electronic nail system has a head with two-speed settings and three separate changeable heads. Numbered one to three the heads, file, buffer and shine. The first head (number one) files and shapes the nails, second head (number two) buffers and evens out ridges whilst smoothing the nail surface, and third head (number three) shines and polishes for a glossy shine.

I found this gadget so easy to use and it made doing my nails really quick. Gone are the days of rubbing your nails so hard with a shine file to try to get the shine – the third head made shining my nails super easy. It does it in seconds and my nails looked amazing. 

The file gave me a more precise file too and I really was able to get the shape I wanted for my nails. It is hard to grow my nails as they constantly break, but shaping them normally takes forever, but I found that with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail Care System, I was able to get a perfect shape I like. If you have shorter nails, it is equal if not easier to shape. 

I love that the heads don't damage your skin if you go over your nail. You can buy replacement heads if your current ones ever wear out. 

I know R489.99 might seem a little steep, but I think it is so much better versus the amount of time you will probably be going to a nail salon a year. 

This is such a great little gadget and I think an impressive addition from Scholl.

It all goes wrong after the top coat. I follow the instructions precisely and cover the tip of the nail perfectly, only using Essence products. After curing the nails under the lamp, the top layer (and sometime the base layer) shrinks considerably leaving unaesthetic edges. Sometimes, small bits of the top layer even come off as I clean the residue with the damp cleanser pad. I've tried it over and over, I even bought another top coat (thinking that might be the issue) - the polka dots effect coat - but the same! It shrinks quite a bit. I'd upload pictures but I'm not sure how, as I am new here. I wish I could be as excited about it as most seem to be, but what am I doing wrong if anything? Or is this the best I can get of it? Now the Brush is about as easy to use as can be, even if you do not have the steadiest of hands (like me). The instructions on the packaging is quite clear and gives you instructions on how to achieve 3 looks; The first is your normal French look and of course you can achieve the look with the colors of your choice. The second is moontips, there you only do the thinnest line at the nail tip. Thirdly is the color blocking option where you can basically start your second color where ever you like. The shape of the brush makes it very easy to use as it has a half moon shape so when you brush the polish on your nails it follows the natural arch of your finger nail making it so simple, the instructions tell you how you get the polish onto the brush and most importantly what to do to clean the brush afterwards. I do suggest that you do use essence polish range as it has the right thickness to spread properly and the least fuss as thin runny polish may cause you to have to do several layers which may not work so well to keep the line straight at the end of the day. I love this product and I was pleasantly surprised about the result as it looked great and did not take me ages to do with both hands by myself this brush takes a lot of stress away from doing more than one color on your nails. Last week I dutifully succumbed to the boredom pressure and did a traditional French manicure but added some pizzazz with Broadways Nail Art Kit. The kit has everything you need to add instant bling to your nails with ease. I picked it up for R99.99. The kit consists of a plastic gem holder, this slides open to reveal the many crystals and gems in all their colours ready to adorn your body or nails. A nail art top coat, cuticle stick and body glue. Nails should first be cleaned, prepped and filed and lastly painted before application of these little gems. They are so easy to apply that the only hard part is choosing a design and colour combination. Paint a layer of clear nail varnish onto the desired nail and then using a tweezer apply the nail art of your choice. Once applied, they will stick to the clear nail varnish and remain in-tact. To further add to their staying capability, use the topcoat provided as it works like almost like a glue to hold the gems in place. And that it folks... easy as 1. Prep nails 2. File and clean cuticle area and 3. Paint and apply nail art gems 4. Seal with Broadway TopCoat The colours of nail art provided are: yellow, pink, silver, blue, red and lilac/purple. The shapes/styles provided are: stars, circles, hearts, flowers and teardrops. I accented my ring finger with some pink and silver bling and was able to love the look for 8days before the first gem peeled off. Once they fall off, they cannot be “glued” back into place and the entire process needs to be done over. If you collect the gems as they fall they can be cleaned and re-used. 8 days of wear isn’t really bad as there is no gel layer to protect the gems from external elements so it’s really the product doing the work to keep them on. As far as I know, these mini scented nail files come in the following scents: Tangerine - Orange Nail File Strawberry - Pink Nail File Cherry - Red Nail File However mine is a cherry but it's a cute pink colour which I love. The mini nail file comes in a cute plastic file protector which I think makes the file more convenient and also much more hygienic. With the whole scent of the nail file thing, I can't get a sweet cherry scent, however I love the scent because it smells a lot like the Chappies Wix Bubble Gum. I would say the nail file works good enough for a mini nail file and seems to be quite strong. The file has two sides, a coarse side for filling nails and a fine side for shaping nails. This device is definitely for all you nail art fundies out there, it retails at full price for R49.95 but regularly goes on special as proven twice now in Avon’s Brochure 9 and 10. It is a definite must have for your nail tool-kit. The brush end helps create precise lines whilst the tapered end (the dotting tool) is great for painting dots and for picking up tiny and pesky nail appliques. The tool comes in a neat plastic case that helps keep it clean and protected. The tool itself has a black middle with silver edges that house the different applicators. The dotting applicator is silver whilst the brush end is made of tiny white bristles. The dotting toll was fun and easy to use once I practised for a bit. I clean the tip and bristles after every use to ensure the tool is ready and clean for when I use it next. It’s a great and essential tool for all nail fundi’s or those trying to experiment with ease. I did a combination of dark metallic pink and silver dots on candy pink coloured nails. I find that the texture is thick and milky like (difficult to describe) but in no means sticky or heavy weight, so it is easily applied to my lips. The color is not quiet sheer, so expect the color to really show. It gives a comfortable wear and each application has an average life span of about an hour until you need to reapply. Over all not the greatest lip gloss that I have ever used, but a pretty good attempt from Queenspark. I tried out various items from their range in store - this being from sheer excitedness. The packaging and presentation of this cosmetic line is visually appealing and the high pigment content of their products is really great! While on holiday at the South Coast a few years ago, the only store close to our hotel was the local Pep store and PnP. While buying some hats and not packed beach stuff I came across their in-house cosmetic range and picked up the nail buffer set. At that time I paid R5.99 which is dirt cheap. I expected this to be of poor quality and not work well but wanted to look neat on holiday and I was left utterly amazed at the results! My nails were super glossy and smooth. The set consists of 3 nail files that are made to do different jobs resulting in perfectly glossed and buffed nails. The 1st buffer is a dark grey that is fairly rough and gritty. All the files have number on them indicating their order and what they are used for. This is written in green. The first file cleans the nails by gently roughing them up, expelling all the dead cells and making the nail the same height. Step 2 is to condition, this gently erases the roughness created by the first file and smoothes out the nail bed. The third and final step is shine, and believe me it really does this to perfection. Even with minimum effort and force, nails are left super shiny and ultra-smooth, no lumps or un-evenness at all. The effect I achieved from this buffer trio far exceeded my expectations and rivals most luxury brand buffers, Sally Hansen included. Whenever I come across a PEP store, which is in Pinecrest Mall, Pinetown; I always make sure to pop in and stock up on my nail life-saver. It’s a great buy that now retails for R9.99. It can easily be popped into your bag or used in the car or on holiday to ensure you always look neat and presentable. It pushes cuticles back very easily without tearing or ripping the skin. Because it's made from wood it is more gentle on the skin than their metal or plastic counterparts. I am terrible at using cuticle clippers and scissors and often end up hurting myself. These little sicks easily file the excess skin away withing a few seconds with absolutely no pain at all. I also really love the bright colourful tips, it makes the product fun to use. Another great advantage is that not too much of the cuticle is removed - the base still remains as only the excess ragged skin is removed. This is VERY important because removing too much of the cuticle is not good at all. The cuticle acts as a protective barrier for newly produced nail cells and by protecting these cells it ensures that the nails grow healthy and strong. When cuticles are removed with clippers or scissors, not only are the new nail cells exposed to the elements but they are exposed to bacteria and other germs that can lead to infections. A pack of 8 will last a VERY long time and at around R35 it's a real steal. It was still going strong, in fact in was exactly the same as when I bought it, when once I dropped it and it shattered. I was totally devastated as I could not see these anywhere in the stores. After you use a crystal one, you can never go back to cardboard ones, so I started buying crystal files from other brands (Essence, Titania etc). All of them were rubbish and would go smooth in spots pretty quickly so it would slip agaist the nail and feel like it is making it jagged. What a relief was it for me to find this file again at Clicks for only R20. I went and bought three because I can't afford to live without it ever again LOL. It seemed like it was also on sale as it was on a separate stand from their nail stuff. I really really recommend it if you come accross it, and go grab a couple! Benefits of the crystal files: - it can be washed without ruining the rough surface - the rough particle are imbedded in the glass and don't get rubbed off for a long long time (when you use a good one, that is :-) - it is much gentler on the nails and prevents splits as it is a lot finer I haven't been able to find anything better. It's from the Clicks range and is pretty cheap at R20. However, the actual file isn't all that great. I've been using it for a while and yes, it does help remove dry skin and smooth your heels and calluses but you really need to use force in order to get any real results. I absolutely hate the sound and feel of nails being filed, and this sound and feel also sends me through the roof. Haha. It seems to loose it's rough edging quite fast and also seems to be peeling back from the plastic. But for R20 I wasn't expecting a high-quality file so I wouldn't say I'm disappointed. It does do a good job of sloughing dry patches, not great, but good. The packaging totally appeals to my girly side (all sides) There aren't many items inside this kit. It's a Hand cream, mini nail file and two cuticle sticks. So first off when you open this packet the sweet, candy smell immediately hits you. Yummy in my opinion. :) Cuticle sticks are self explanatory, so I will move onto the cream and file. The cream is a 29ml tube and claims to give you super soft skin. This is a cute little hand cream and it smells delicious. It's obviously not the most expensive cream around, but definitely made my hands feel soft. The little mini-nail file is my favorite part of the pack. Hehehe. The cupcakes that are printed on this file was enough for me to buy this kit. :) This nail file works like a normal little file and gets the job done. But it has that sweet candy, cupcake smell as well. It really does feel like a little yummy treat for my nails.
