Overall, to be brutally honest, I didn't see a huge change in my teeth. However, I feel like the stains on my teeth are not something that a R49,99 bottle of mouthwash can fix. Quick story: When I had those white/clear braces put on, everybody told me that I must be extra careful because they got stained easily. So I actually became fanatic about brushing my teeth, ironically so that the braces would not stain -- but I ended up brushing some of the enamel off my teeth, and now I have this weird yellow splodge. I've read a whole bunch of horror story reviews about teeth whitening products using all sorts of contraptions that damage your teeth and make them ultra sensitive, so I was happy to try something more mild and PG. Though there isn't any super noticeable difference, I do feel like my teeth are at least a shade whiter than they were before. My two front teeth definitely look whiter, it's those two canines on the side that are being stubborn! I'm sure if I gave up my 5-7 cups of tea a day it would make a big difference because tea and coffee are notoriously terrible stainers, but psh! I love me my tea way too much! It says on the bottle that it helps with the prevention of further stains, so maybe my teeth would be a whole lot more yellow without the wash!? I was a bit apprehensive about using the mouthwash at first because the directions say to gargle it for a whole MINUTE and the times I've used other Listerine products, I could only keep the mouthwash in for about 15 seconds because it burnt so much! But I was pleasantly surprised by its mildness, was able to swish it around for a minute each time after I brushed my teeth, and my mouth felt incredibly clean and wonderful and minty fresh. WARNING: I got a sore in my mouth as I often do when I get stressed, and THAT was super painful with the mouthwash!! But like, dur. I was okay with it. All in all, it's a pretty great product. If you are planning on using the mouthwash for 2 weeks straight, then buy the 500ml bottle because 250ml isn't enough (it tells you to use 10ml at a time, which was a capsize of the 250ml bottle). I will most definitely keep using this product, it has become a part of my daily hygiene routine and my teeth don't feel quite as fresh and wonderful without using the mouthwash afterwards! My besties love the mouthwash too, we are all teapots so have experienced the same results (maybe I should have asked a non-tea drinker to participate?). My boyfriend always has a big bottle of that green Listerine next to his basin but when I came to stay over he preferred to use my Listerine Advanced White instead! What I love about Listerine as a brand is that they produce a great quality product that leaves your breath fresh for hours, as works incredibly effectively even after drinking coffee. Coffee tends to linger on the breath, even after brushing, so it's great that Listerine really removes any traces of coffee. I was incredibly excited to try the Listerine Advanced White, as it is a safer way of removing stains from your teeth apposed to teeth whitening at an oral hygienist. Whitening with harsh chemicals causes micro-fractures on your teeth, which cause sensitivity. Often you will hear how sensitive people say their teeth are after having whitening done. This is due to the micro-fractures forming on the teeth. Some people have naturally white teeth, whereas some people have naturally yellowish teeth. This doesn't mean the person had bad oral hygiene, it only means that the enamel covering their teeth is a lot thinner, so the dentin (which is naturally a yellow colour) shows through the teeth. My teeth are not very stained to start off with, as I have a cousin who is an oral hygienist and she ensures my teeth are cleaned regularly and keeps me up to date with everything happening in the dentistry world. I definitely noticed that my teeth appeared brighter, about a week after use. I'm now onto almost 2 weeks of use, and my teeth feel so smooth and I noticed that my breath stays fresher for longer. Confidence Boost: It definitely is a confidence boost when your teeth look super white wearing a red lip, to the point where people even compliment you! A smile is so important, it's one of the most basic ways of relaying emotion to people around you. I love looking after my teeth, as it makes me feel good. It's also a major confidence booster when your dentist compliments your dental hygiene and condition of your teeth. Experience using product Initially when I rinsed my mouth with the Listerine Advanced White, my gums stung a bit. I do have hypersensitive gums, as I suffer from Fibromyalgia. After a few days the sensation disappeared, and only stung again if I flossed and nicked the gum, but other wise it was smooth sailing after a few days. The taste of the mouthwash is quite intense, but I actually enjoy that about it compared to other brands, as it means that the minty freshness lasts longer throughout the day, or night. It's also great for after a night out, as it gets rid of the remaining alcohol taste that often lingers. I definitely recommend one tries out the product. Do not expect incredibly white teeth, as that is not the purpose of the product. It whitens your teeth by removing surface stains, it cannot change the natural colour of your teeth. And remember to use this product in conjunction with brushing properly as well as flossing everyday. I was pleasantly surprised on my first try of using Listerine Advanced White, it didn't burn but rather had a lemony feel to it, and after keeping it in my mouth for a minute I felt so minty fresh. It freshens your breath and honestly I think it even helps with morning breath! After 3 days I saw results, my teeth looked a whole lot better but unfortunately I have two teeth on the side that have stubborn stains and I haven't seen much difference with those. But you cannot expect a +-R50 bottle of whitening wash to make your teeth luminescent! However, my teeth are at least a shade whiter and I haven't even finished my two weeks. Yesterday I had received my listerine advanced white mouthwash and after using it twice yesterday, day and night, I could not wait to share my views. Being a boiling-hot tea lover my teeth were bound to get stained, I have even tried to whiten them using home methods such as bicarb and lemon juice and even that did not make them any whiter. I have seen other products and treatments that can be used for whitening, however, being a student I found them out of my price range. What I loved the most about the listerine advanced white was that my mouth and lips did not feel like they were peeling after usage. It was not too strong which was a plus since you use it for 60 seconds, therefore no burning occurred. I also love that there is no bad after taste, just a fresh light taste of mint after use which also leaves your mouth feeling refreshed! Super excited to try it out and see the results. First impressions: I love the look of the packaging! The white bottle symbolizes the whitening characteristic of the product. And the metallic finish gives it a sense of quality and class. I also love the fact that it is a multi-purpose mouthwash! It not only whitens teeth BUT also protects from new stains, strengthens your teeth and protects against germs that cause plaque. Lastly, this mouth wash needs to be used twice daily (seems like a pain) and swished around in your mouth for atlas 60 seconds. At first this seems daunting but after using it this morning I can tell you it won't be an issue at all. I find this Listerine product a little less intense then some of their other products. At no point during the 60 seconds did I feel as if my mouth was on fire or going to explode from an overbearingly intense minty flavor. This should be a breeze :) Will check back in a week to let you know the progress! So it's been a week and I must say although my teeth only look slightly whiter, I can see that the areas between my teeth have really whitened up! Before they were pretty yellow (and the darker shade to be exact) but now they are borderline white. I have been using this product for just over a week and I must say I am very impressed. I have sensitive gums and alcohol based mouthwashes like Listerine make them burn and leaves my mouth feeling dry. This mouthwash consists of two phases which you mix by shaking the bottle vigorously. This activates the formula. It feels smooth and minty in your mouth and has no burning sensation. When you spit it out in the basin you can see the plaque that has been removed from your mouth as its tinted blue. This was a little surprising and makes you realise that just brushing your teeth is not effective enough on its own. My mouth feels clean and the minty taste lasts for quite a while.
