It’s an old time favorite that just got better.
I love how they have evolved and added new versions of the product, to cater to all hair problems.
This oil is great for all types of hair, whether used to base the scalp or just help maintain the hairs moisture.
Love it and would recommend it, plus it doesn’t break the bank, and a little goes a long way.

I can safely say I've figured out what my hair loves and what product to use for my desired effect. I've always used MPL hair oil alternating between the Coconut oil and the Sure To Grow oil to help restore my edges. Currently my hair is the healthiest and longest it's ever been. I find the MPL Coconut oil helps keep my hair moisturized for longer (my hair finds it hard to retain moisture) and makes styling much easier.

I would definitely recommend this product for someone wanting thicker, stronger hair.

It is the best hair oil I've used. I use it to base my scalp every day or every 2 days and I use it on my hairline. It really works wonders. I used it when I had relaxed hair and also use it on my now natural hair and also when I have braids in or sew-ins. I would definitely reccomend it to relaxed and natural hair types as well as for people with dry itchy scalp and receding hair lines due to braids, it moisturizes the hair, smells great and stimulates hair growth.

Would definitely recommend this product to anyone suffering with dry hair & scalp as well as someone who wanna grow their hair and restore their hairline.

It has made a heck of a difference.
My hair is no longer shedding, its grown thicker and my hairline is growing in.
I purchased it from Clicks and the price was not too bad,it was just slightly below R200.
Hands down, best product for regrowing my hairline!

I normally used it when I had a clip on pony it pt onto my hair and the gel would keep my hair down. It's a great product, doesn't flake at all. You need to apply it to relaxed hair, it worked and looked better then. I did try it on natural hair and it didn't work very well and required you to use more of the product which i thought was a waste.

Once applied on relaxed hair, you don't really have to keep reapplying, I only did touch-ups once a week.
It smells good as well, and it is very easy to just wash out.
I am not using the product at the moment because I am growing my hair naturally.

Coconut oil has so many uses, and it's 100% natural. This miracle oil can be used topically on your hair, your nails, your skin and on your teeth. (Hello , oil pulling!) And it's amazingly beneficial when ingested, because it's a good fat. Organic virgin oil is always the best, but it's also the most expensive. You can choose the type that suits your needs. I personally have purchased a one-litre tub of the Lifestyle Foods coconut oil from Dischem, and it lasts for ages. Plus, coconut oil has a million other uses for your household, garden and food. There's honestly no reason NOT to have some coconut oil handy. It's like Vaseline: totally multi-purpose.

I recently shaved my hair off because of dandruff and I got coconut oil as it is well recommended for dandruff prone scalp and I've been using it for over a year in my 6 year natural hair journey. I apply it daily to keep my scalp moisturized and since it promotes hair growth it is a plus. It doesn't leave my hair or scalp greasy as i find it absorbs into my scalp in a few hours. The jar i bought is 156g and trust me when I say a Little goes a long way. Its very important to moisturize your scalp more than your hair this i say because the hair grows from the scalp, so when you moisturise the hair from the root it grows better, stronger and thicker. Always cut your split ends every 4-6 months then add the coconut oil to your ends to leave them conditioned which prevents hair breakage.

Texture:
It has a smooth, soft texture with small balls in the mixture that melt off as you rub the product onto your hair. Not Thick but lightweight.

Scent:
Beautiful smell almost like cherry labello (lip balm).

Tea Tree Oil is not top of the list in the ingredients. It is preceded by coconut oil, castor oil and vitamin E... so... is it really tea tree oil???

It's not really an oil, it's more of the hair food texture and consistency but it melts easily when exposed to warmer temperatures.

The scent can get a bit overwhelming, but if you don't mind it then you have nothing to worry about

It left my hair looking greasy and heavy, but I have never liked this look so it was a big no for me. Even though applied to the scalp, it also travels onto the hair strands because nature.

It does help with flakiness if that's a problem for you and your scalp.

It does also contain PETROLATUM, PARAFFIN and ISOPROPYL MYRISTATE, among other things, but if you're not fussy then grab yourself a jar.

Because I relax my hair and I love it when my hair is sleek and straight, I tend to over-do-it with the hair straightener or dryer.

I haven't relaxed my hair since February - so you can imagine the amount of growth happening (I am trying to minimize the number of times I relax my hair a year). Hopefully, the hair gods will help me stop with my little fetish.

Because I haven't relaxed for a while, keeping my hair straight has become a bit of a mission coz I am all about that straightener, but I am so petrified that I am causing damage to my hair, since I straighten it so much...then this little beauty landed on my desk so I was happy to try something new.

Dark and Lovely’s Alma Oil’s intense moisture rejuvenates every strand of your hair. It left my hair looking thick and healthy and not all like it was breaking. After a few weeks of using it; my hair didn’t break. The Alma oil restored shine to my awesome hair and it is soft and smooth.

I think I just found a must have for winter, especially if you are going to be keeping your natural hair or most importantly if you are going to have a weave. If you live in Cape Town, this is definitely a must, as we all know it tends to rain here in winter.

Posting pictures soon :-)

It leaves the scalp dandruff free and works wonders for hairlines and thickening your hair.
Since I started using it my hair has gotten really thick and strong and my edges have been full until i got my son then had to use other stuff to rescue my hairline because post pregnancy hair-shedding got the best of me.

But all in all, this is a really good oil and should be incorporated into your daily hair-care routine to get the most out of it, because when done right it works wonders for your hair.

Dry Hair? Try Coconut Oil
Need to remove make-up? Try Coconut Oil
Uneven skin tone? Try Coconut Oil

The list is endless...

I believe in oil so much that I use it on my hair AND skin on a daily basis.

It does not have much of an odour and does not leave my skin or hair feeling greasy. Unlike other oils, coconut oil can go from solid to liquid quite fast depending on the temperature that it is exposed to.

I use it as a pre-shampoo treatment because it penetrates the hair shaft well. This way I know that my hair won’t be left dry or dehydrated after I shampoo.

If your conditioner does not have enough slip, a few teaspoons of coconut oil will help with that. This will leave you with that baby soft afro feeling.

When used on the skin consistently, it can reduce the appearance of dark marks.

This oil has become a trusted member in my hair care routine for the days when I don't feel like mixing my own carrier oils. The L.O.C method is great and this oil helps me achieve the "O" - Oil part of my moisturising technique.

It smells divine and a little goes a long way so the bottle lasts a reasonable time.

I have also used it as a hot oil treatment and it left my hair smelling good and moisturised.

I didn't like the fact that it contained mineral oils, but that's a personal thing for me.

What I love the most about coconut oil is that is NATURAL. no fragrances and anything that could possibly irritate my skin or scalp. As everyone has mentioned this miracle product can be almost everything. This is how I use it to soften, strengthen and grow my natural hair.

1. MOISTURIZER/SPRITZER:

Because virgin changes state from liquid/solid in different temperatures it lends itself to different containers. Use an old spray bottle, melt your coconut oil in a bowl in the microwave, pour it into the spray bottle then add some warm water and voila- daily spritzer!

I use this to spray may hair almost every morning especially if I haven't done anything to it the night before. Or (secret), I carry it in my bag and spritz throughout the day when I feel heat has worn out my strands.

2. LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER:

Because this is an oil its best for moisturizing and strengthening weak strands and not leaving your scalp layered wit thick product.

After an evening wash(with conditioner) or event wetting your hair with warm water, towel dry your hair and rub some coconut oil through your hair and scalp. Tie or braid your hair into four sections to seal in moisture, wrap your head in a sating scarf and your hair is soft, stretched and strengthened the next morning.

3. FOR EVEN-TONED SKIN:
Steps:
1. Steam or wash face
2. To dry, lightly dab with a towel without completely drying it
3. Apply coconut oil

This is best done the night before, the heat from warm water opens your pores improving the absorption potential of the coconut oil.

Result: Soft skin, improved appearance of black heads and improved skin tone

I've tried various brands over the years and thumbs up to all of them. The one I'm currently using is from the Dabur vatika brand. I use it once a week, massaging it into my hair and scalp really well then wash off the next morning. It makes such a difference to my hair ,I can really see and feel how healthy it makes it. Over time it's said to improve thickness, something that I'm looking forward too and will keep you updated on that.

I try not to relax my hair too often, so when I am in-between protective styles I just get a hair treatment and keep my hair natural for a while. I obviously love my hair straight so I go to town on it with my straightener. I loved the way my hair felt after straightening it. The serum didn’t leave a sticky residue at all and left my hair feeling weightless and gorgeous. It is even felt better after I have relaxed my hair. It is perfect for both relaxed and natural hair.

Absolutely worth every penny!

I know there are shampoos and treatments that contain coconut oil but I find the raw, real thing much better and cheaper!
Its great directly on skin as a moisturiser and as a make up remover - its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal so it wont block pores!

It smells amazing and its consistency is very smooth and totally manageable unlike the normal castor oil. My edges are never in cry for help as it keeps it strong and it doesn't dry my hair out. I got myself a bottle from Dischem.

I have been using it for a few months now, and can safely say that its one of the best oils for hair out there currently. I have relaxed hair, and i use it in conjunction with the Billion Hair Potion also from dark and lovely, and base my scalp with the product at least once a week.

After a few weeks hair looks shiner, feels thicker and looks healthy too, without dry patches. Its great when you massage it into your scalp, as it stimulates blood flow to the scalp and encourages hair growth.

I love this product! The whole Amla range is FANTASTIC. :)

I used the basic method of oil pulling where you melt the oil and use it like mouthwash. I lasted 11 minutes before the thought of all my spit expanding in my mouth freaked me out enough that I had to stop! I did not notice an immediate difference but that evening I had an EXCRUCIATING headache - which in itself was awful but the coconut oil is supposed to pull out toxins from your body and clearly it had done that job.
I have not yet used this oil on my hair, but I hear it works miracles. Personally I find it to be amazing when used as a lip balm and for frying veggies :)

Price: About R50 for a 1lt (Quinns Brands @ Spar)

I am so in love with coconut oil. I use it face, body and hair. It's great :)

Face routine: I wash my face at night and then I massage a small amount onto my face, I've seen a great difference and the dark circle under my eyes are much lighter. My face feel moisturized and soft with a nice glow.

Body routine: I apply a small amount under my armpits after I bath and there the dark marks have really lighten. I also use it after I shave, makes it really soft and relieves the burning.

Hair routine: I prepoo with coconut oil, so basically I heat up some coconut oil and massage it into my scalp and the length of my hair before each wash, I put on a plastic cap for about an 1hour. I then rinse my hair and shampoo, then I add a little more coconut oil to my deep conditioner or normal conditioner and let that sit for about 30 minutes. I rollerset and apply a little again. On dry hair I apply coconut oil to the length of my hair each time I moisturize. My hair is softer, stronger, longer and healthier than ever.

Would I buy it again: Hell YES !! I love this stuff. It's so versitile that it can be used for anything

I've suffered from eczema all my life and I've been worried about the effects of using creams containing cortisone on my skin. Cortisone is known to thin the skin, but coconut oil provides an all-natural alternative. Rub coconut oil on affected areas before bed, leave it on overnight and you'll soon see results.

WARNING: It can stain sheets, so use the 'less is more' method or use an old sheet.

When using as a conditioner or treatment it may be best to use when you wont be seeing anyone the next day, i found after using it and washing it out, it was sort of oily until the next wash, after my second wash my hair was in the best condition it had been in ages.
when i use it on my skin, my skin has this glow about it the next day (totes devine, but it oil, so beware)
No need to use the expensive coconut oil (extra Virgin) you can purchase a small 100ml at a pharmacy, i paid R13 for mine. and then i buy the better quality for cooking with (which is incredible)

Not only can you eat it and cook with it BUT you can use it for your beauty needs as well, hair body nails, coconut oil has a use.

For my hair I like to apply coconut oil at night, wrap my hair in a disposable shower cap and sleep with my hair like thirst, in the morning I do a double shampoo and condition and wash all the remnants away. If you don't have the time to do that you can apply to your hair leave for 20-30 minutes while blowing hot air from a hair dryer onto it and then wash out.
This leaves your hair silky, smooth and shiny, it's my favorite way to use coconut oil.

For nails and hands you can use coconut oil in place of hand cream or cuticle oil, in fact it is so good for your hands and nails because it is one hundred percent natural!

For your face/ body, you can use coconut oil to treat acne, eczema, pigmentation, and many more. It is perfect for applying just after your bath but like most oils will take a while to soak into you skin. Don't forget a little goes a long way. It is great as an all over body moisturizer and leaves your skin feeling supple and smooth, with a healthy glow.

A friend told me to try coconut oil and see what happens.
Whats the worst that could happen? I tried it and well, the worst that could happen was that I could get completely mesmerised by the results...and the worst did indeed happen...which was also the best.
After using once, I could feel and see an enormous improvement. It also added to giving my hair more volume.

Researching coconut oil for hair, I found some of the following problems CO could be a solution for:
?Dry hair;
?Split ends
?.Fly aways (also known as baby hair)
?it helps hair grow faster
?hair with tendency to break
?hair that falls out easily

With all of those perks, why wouldn't you try it? And guess what.......it doesn't make your hair oily at all!
So now ask yourself...do you want perfect hair, or are you simply going to ignore this article? ;)
Lots of lovies!

The Amla Legend range of products from Dark & Lovely have proven to be very popular. Well, with me, at least. Just as with the rest of the range, the first thing that makes me smile about this Oil of 7 Wonders is the lovely scent. Because I had never used an oil such as this one, I looked at the directions for use and they turned out to be a bit confusing for me.

The directions indicated that you can use the the oil by, Applying directly to wet hair, add some to your regular hair conditioner or for use in a hot oil treatment. At no point do they indicate how much you should use. And so, On my first application to wet hair, I put way too much. I'm not sure how much i put because I squirted it directly to my hair (silly me) and did not squirt a bit on my hands then apply to my hair, as i probably should have.

Anyway, My hair was not greasy looking, but looked very much ''alive'' for the next few days. Since I do not know how to do a hot oil treatment, I have not done one using this oil. I have not added the oil of 7 wonders to any conditioner because I'm a fan of 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner and I'm not sure if it would work out well if I added the oil to it.

So, for now, I will only apply a couple of R5 coin sized amounts to wet hair after washing it.

The oil is fantastic for those with dry and brittle hair, as well as those with course hair. My hair is easier to comb, even a few days after applying the Oil of 7 wonders.

It's not the best product on the market based on the fact that I don't know how to use it to its full potential. But it smells great and helps give your hair a boost.

The Cactus Gro balm is infused with cactus extracts specifically designed to retain moisture from the environment to soften & condition dry and damaged locs & hair.

I bought this Cactus Gro from Clicks for R28 and I applied it 3 times a week. At times, I used to use it as a treatment by applying it on my scalp and placing a warm towel on my head for 3-5minutes. This I used to do a day or two before I shampoo my hair. It is really tingly on application. It contains olive oil & carrot oil in addition to the cactus extract. However, this product does contain mineral oil & petrolatum.

My hair felt very conditioned. If too much product is used, hair can get oily and the product may drip on your forehead:). However, the ORS product is not a pure oil as the jojoba oil is listed as one of the many ingredients and it also contains petrolatum. This product is great unless you are looking for the real deal. Pure jojoba oil tends to be pricy but it is the best in my opinion.

When I used it, it made my hair soft and shiny. The only downside is that the coconut oil is only listed as one of the ingredients and that it contains petrolatum. It is a great product but I personally feel that it is best to buy pure coconut oil from Dischem and any other health shops because you can get a 500g tub for the same price and the product is pure coconut oil.

Personally I enjoy this product but I use it sparingly.

How to use
Option 1: You can use it like you would any treatment put a bit onto your scalp and a tiny amount onto your hair.

Option 2 (my favorite) : use it as a hot (hot) oil treatment, the oil on its own once on the scalp has a warm sensation, in this method you can boil a cup of water and put your oil inside the cup of water to heat it up some more. thereafter you can apply to your scalp. I love this method because it feels so wonderful and it speeds up the process and strengthens my hair. (if you want to go the extra mile, you can then proceed with the inversion method http://naijahaircangrow.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-inversion-test-results-are-in.html )

Pros: Strengthens and promotes hair growth, also helps with itching.

Cons: It is a very heavy concentrated oil, so use it sparingly. It also doesn't smell so great.

I use my oil about twice a month, i just make sure to use it around times where I know i will be washing my hair as i do not like the smell.

Price & Purchase Points
I usually buy mine at clicks, however I have seen it at small salons as well as many supermarkets. It does not cost above R100 I just can not remember the price.

Since ethnic hair continuously needs a well moisturized scalp, the MPL Hair Oil - Coconut is the best option, and I have been using it for the past 4 years on my natural hair. For best results use it as a scalp treatment after every hair wash. Leaves the scalp well moisturized, without being greasy. The coconut factor nourishes and feeds the root of the hair. This stimulates hair growth and gives your hair volume and strength.
I definitely would recommend especially to those with receding hairlines and hair that is braided or weaved as a scalp treatment.

SA is one of the major exporters of the pure Marula oil (a major plus). There will also be the added bonus of being able to use the pure Marula oil on your skin as well.
