I was quite impressed with this loose translucent powder, not only for being one of the cheapest loose powders at the drugstore, but also because it got the job done and did what it was supposed to. I used this powder until it was completely empty, in conjunction with the Catrice 'All Matt Plus' foundation (which by the way, is not very matte) and Catrice HD concealer. I found that it did a good job for matifying and setting my foundation and concealer, but I would not recommend this product for baking - especially under the eyes - because it is quite drying, and it has a little bit of flashback. For under the eyes I recommend to press a small amount of this powder into the under eye area in a back-to-forth motion with a small beauty blender/sponge. I gave this powder 4 stars for Quality because it is not as fine as I wish it could be, it can give a cake face effect if not careful. I recommend using setting spray straight after applying this powder (with only primer, foundation, concealer underneath).. and then pressing the powder into the skin with a damp beauty blender/sponge. I would recommend the Maybelliene 24 hr setting spray in the white bottle! The actual powder though is really good. You can use it to set your foundation and it works really well with the Essence Stay All Day 16h Foundation and I have tried it with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation as well. When I use darker shades, it can tend to look too dark for me depending on how much time I spent in the sun. I also have a bronzer just in case this one comes off too white or powdery. I must say that I love this powder. It works really well and does not leave me looking like a washed out ghost. If you have very deep skin, I would suggest trying a darker shade though as I am perfectly in between at the moment. Where ever I apply this product, the foundation/concealer just stays put all day long. No settling into lines or creasing for me. It is very lightweight and won't dry out your skin as I already have dry skin to begin with. If you enjoy the baking method, this shade is perfect and works really well. I am extremely clumsy when it comes to a loose fixing powder, lets just say it lands up everywhere except may face... So this led me opting for a compact powder. I bought my essence all about matt! fixing compact powder at Dischem for only R59.95; and excellent price for an excellent product!! It is very easy to use, keeps you oil free for a good couple of hours. A good tip for girls with oily skin is to keep in your handbag with a small brush, that way you can touch up through out the day without looking shiny! I have been using this powder for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it! After I have applied my Neutrogena CC cream or my MAC foundation I will take a big fluffy brush and lightly dust some powder onto my T zone to get a lovely matt finish. Be careful not too apply too much powder because I do find it can leave you looking a bit more pale than usual! Other than that it leaves your skin feeling so soft and oil free! Packaging is very neat and classy. The powder's packaging is clear acrylic, which flips open, it's not too small but not too big either, the right size to fit your brush into and just small enough to be able to easily take it with you traveling. It's a great, long lasting formula, keeping skin matte for at least 8 hours. The powder is also super-fine, meaning that a little goes a long way. However, it is cumbersome to apply as the product tends to spill when opening. It is not suitable for travelling- best applied over a sink to minimise mess. It is not completely transparent and thus may not be the best for darker skin tones. If you are heavy handed, it can collect on creases and laugh lines. Lastly, there is slight flashback when taking photos. All in all, a good product for those with very oily skin. Great value for money and it stays all day. I think Essence have totally answered the prayers of the girlies that struggle with a bit of an oily skin through the day. Although I prefer the loose powder version I have to give it to the compact. And it might be even less messier than the loose powders. The setting powder I use on my highlighted areas and the compact mosaic on all the darker parts of the face like under my cheek bones on my jaw line and on my temples, since i'm a very fair girly it does the trick. And I love the smell it got an almost coconut smell to it which is surprising since most powders got no smell to it. The powder itself is soft and applies with no fuss or fallout. The quality is great as with all the other Essence product and I use this only on the parts of my face where I have done some highlighting, because its got a white glow to it it leaves those areas fixed and flawless looking. Although it might not work as well for people with darker complexions since it might be to white on their skin. I have to admit you will never find me without this product since I can use it in so many ways. It has a strong smell similar to hairspray when first sprayed which I don't particularly like, and it makes me concerned as to how much chemicals I am putting on my face. I don't love the packaging of this spray, it has a bit too much of a "cheap", "home-made" feel to it, with a price that doesn't match. It is still cheaper then a lot of the other brands of setting sprays out there at the moment. I tend to lean towards translucent powders as no matching is needed and they feel to be much lighter on my skin.
