All of the girls in the European reviews showcased extra products that came in the box - strings and clips and exciting things, but sadly, the South African version does not come with these goodies. :( I had a bit of a misconception of the product's abilities, which is probably my fault... I assumed that this product would be the answer to my braiding needs. I can only really make a traditional braid, and so badly want to do more. So when I realised that "Quick and Easy Braids" actually meant twists only, I was gutted. Nevertheless, I soldiered on! I tried the #BabylissTwistSecret first on one of my colleagues, who was going to an event. We really had such a good laugh, because it was a lot more difficult to get a result that looks like something than we expected... Ultimately, we managed to make a boho-inspired Grecian look, and she got complimented all night. I really like that the Twist Secret is portable, battery operated and simple to use. I would recommend this product for girls who have medium to thick hair, that holds a style well in general. On my hair, the twists unravelled so quickly and I got a little disheartened. I will say, though, that the product is easy to use. You simply clip your hair into the two hair clips. Push the button up for individual twists, and then down to create a single twist from the two strands. (making something from those twists is a little harder though!) I am going to post a video or two of ideas that I have, which could make your life a little easier. I think this product is great for girls who love experimenting with new hairstyles. Once I recieved my Babyliss twist secret I went looking for the Babyliss hair accessories to try out some looks with them but it seems as if Clicks has discontinued them. I love Babyliss hair tools I own a Babyliss tool used to create big waves and it works wonderfully. Babyliss tools are affordable and great quality. So firstly when I opened the box I seen that the styler comes with batteries so it is battery operated and there's no need to worry about cords and plugs yay. Even though the tool being portable I don't entirely trust batteries they do not last very long so I suggest that after each use remove the batteries to make them last longer. It would have been nice if the tool was rechargable..just a thought. I wanted to use the tool right away but I had seen that the battery cover is screwed in and I could not find a screw driver at the time. So the battery cover being screwed in is a good idea as I always tend to lose the remote battery cover and some times the batteries fall out which I hate, but also if you don't have a screw driver at hand it can be a little frustrating. To my surprise the Babyliss twist secret is quite small which I love as it fits perfectly in my hand and it is light which makes this tool easy to use. The hair tool has two tweezers at the top to clip the hair in and the top part of the tool rotates to twist the hair. There are two settings, setting one and setting two. The first setting is to create single twists with two strands of hair and the second setting is to twist the two single twists into one thicker twist. What I like about this tool is that you can let your imagination run wild and create all types of looks from romantic,  natural and hippie chic. Not only can you use the tool to create amazing twists but also to create your own head bands. How amazing is that! You can also style up your twists by keeping them in place with cute clips, hair jewellery and head chain and bands. This hair tool is easy to use and creates twists in just seconds so you don't have to hurt your arms twisting your hair with your fingers. Since a young age I have always loved experimenting with different hair styles I have had corn rows, braids you name it I probably had it done at one stage. I always use to beg my mum to create a new hairstyle for me every day (hated when she brushed my hair though). When I put in the batteries I gave the Babyliss twist secret a try but it did not work out so well as my hair was way too oily. I loved the design on this product, no fancy complicated buttons. .The actual twisting method only required three steps, 1) secure the hair, 2) push button 1 to twist up, and 3) push button 2 to twist down.I also appreciated that it came with batteries, so I could pop them in and get twisting straight away at anytime and any place. It's not to big or heavy so you can throw it into your bag and your good to go! I found that if your hair is not brushed out and unknotted you will have a difficult time achieving a nice neat twist. I would recommend straightening your hair and using a serum to smoothen everything out prior to use. I also would recommend keeping some bobby pins on hand to secure the twists. I found that getting the hang of this product was really easy, I was able to create a gorgeous romantic hairstyle, using this product and I loved how tightly the twist remained! If you were a fly on the wall you would understand the reason for my joy at a styling tool that would do the work for you! Yes, I have tried many hairstyles but seem to often fail miserably. This time was no exception.. The first time I tried the Babyliss Twist Secret was not easy. Threading the hair through the tweezers without coming out took a few tries to get the hang of it as well as getting the direction in which you twist to be right without making a funny twist and loosen the hair out of the tweezers. It certainly takes a few tries, but with anything, it takes practice to perfect. I must say though, it is challenging with shorter hair that has different lengths. I enjoy a challenge though and am loving experimenting with the twister, trying various styles. I have been practicing, trying to come up with new styles, which I will share with you as I perfect them. Instead of doing the tedius work of plaiting and twisting your hair, you can use this simple little machine that does all the messy work for you! You start off with putting two pieces of hair into the clips on the machine. Pushing up those clips was a tad bit of a nightmare, but the rest is a breeze: simply swipe up or down. Swiping up will twist each section of the hair, and swiping down will twist the two twists together into an even bigger twist. Does that make sense? Take note that the twists do tend to loosen after you unclip your hair from the machine. Also, as easy as it is to use, you'd probably still need help (in my case, my mom's) when doing styles that look snazzy at the back. The machine is very easy to hold and I can fit it into my little bag. No wires, no mess, no fuss (it even comes with batteries too). The styles that you can create are absolutely endless, and what I have done is just the tip of the iceberg. You can easily create UNIQUE and BEAUTIFUL hairstyles with a fraction of the effort and time! However, the proof is in the pudding and you can see the hairstyles that I created in my photos. The controls on the push buttons are pretty simple. There are three “settings”: a 0 setting, I setting and a II setting. It is such a reasonable size! I had to spend a lot of time using the product but after a while I got used to using it and fell in love with it. Initially when I got the product I wanted to try it on my own hair, and I would use my hair as the subject of the experiment, however I soon realised that I wanted to reach a much wider audience in terms of hair types. The biggest issue when I told my peers about the product was that they spoke of it as a product created only for Caucasian hair – which I knew was not the case. So my goal became that I should prove to the wider audience that this product caters for more than one certain hair type. Therefore most of the hairstyles I created I used natural ethnic hair and braids – just so I could reach out to the audience within that hair group. Using the product wasn’t very easy at first. I found that I had to spend a lot of time working with it so I could get used to it. After a while it became easier and I could do different hairstyles quicker. So for any person buying this, I really suggest that you spend some time working with the product and getting used to it. Don’t give up if it doesn’t work out as you want it the first, second or third time. It does take a bit of getting used to. My very first hair straightened I ever owned was a babylis back in 2006 the hair styling tool, lasted me a good few years, till my darling sister stepped on it and what tragic end that was! On that note I was rather keen on giving the babylis twist secret hair styling tool a go. My experience with the product at first was a confusing one as I had no idea how to use the product a, because I believe instructions are for losers but after sucking it up and actually reading the instruction I found the product easy to use. The babylis twist secret is travel friendly as you only a need pair of batteries and its convenient to access at any given time plus it's cordless so need to carry extra adaptors with on holiday. The fact the product is heatless, is one of my favorite features, especially if you trying to lay of the heat for a while in order to make your healthy again. With this products there no need to have a bad hair cause you not using any hair styling tools with heat to protect your hair. I found the babylis twist secret to be rather time sufficient in a sense that, if I had to twist my hair without using the styling too it would take me a little longer than when I used the hair styling tool. I loved the little box in which the product came because it's very convenient for travel if you love creating hairstyles on the go. I tried making my video as short as possible, however that just could not happen because there are endless possibilities and I ended up creating 4 different hairstyles with this! It's very easy to use and convenient. Push the power lever up once and it twists your strands, push it down and it braids the hair. I think people who love experimenting with hairstyles will love this product. The only cons that I could point out was that it had a screwdriver attachment at the back which was a nightmare to remove and my dad had to come to the rescue. This is only a bummer because when you need to change out the batteries you need to have a screwdriver available. The other con was that you can only put tiny strands of hair into the machine for smaller braids but this isn't that bad and it's still a pretty nifty gadget! It’s a really unique and brilliantly weird device Setting I twists each strand of hair individually. Setting II twists them together into a braid. I can't get it right to do braids from the scalp at the moment. I think it's really cool because it operates with batteries. It does take some playing around with to get the hang of it....... because I did get my hair tangled in it a few times, need more time to practice. But It's a big time saver. I have only done one style will be updating more styles soon. I tried it out on my damp hair as well and it works fine, btw you need a very small screwdriver to remove the cover for where the batteries go. you can get it at clicks it's going for R280 at the moment that's a big saving. I used the Secret Twist on both my and my sisters hair. I found it easier to use on my hair, which was shorter. Also it would be much harder to use on uneven lengths of hair since in will unevenly braid your hair. I would recommend taking pieces of the same length. At some stages I found it difficult to use, when putting the hair in the slots, I would accidently press the button resulting in hair getting tangled up. On a more positive note. I enjoyed creating new hairstyles with this styling tool. I think you can really let the creative juices flow with this one and create whatever look you want to. Because it's wide my hair is done in a jiffy and it's shiny and healthy. It has variable temps that it's counterpart don't have and I can use it at a lower temp than it's competitor and get amazing results. I can even blow dry my hair (I suck at it) and just smooth out on the lowest temp. I have extremely fine hair so I need a lower temp in general. I don't enjoy curling my hair with the GHD though, I find that it's more time consuming than using a traditional tong.
