It has a mild scent that isn't offensive or overpowering. But this gel wash doesn't foam at all and even after washing your face with it 4 times you haven't even cleaned any makeup off at all. It didn't cause any breakouts, but I wouldn't say it made my skin any better. The 'tagline' is "cleanses your skin right down to the pores". This is very far-fetched as my face feels dirty and still full of makeup after washing with this a few times. I am a bit disappointed as I do love Essence and I love the facial wipes from the same range. I generally love the quality of Essence products and didn't expect not to be satisfied with the product. This wash has a very moussy texture. It's meant to lather up and deep cleanse your pores. I understand that they tried to aim for something gentle but this wash was so gentle it didn't wash my skin at all. And this was after I have already used a cream makeup remover first to cleanse. It doesn't lather at all and my face feels just as dirty afterwards. It takes a lot for me to really hate a product. I normally try to use it up anyway but this was impossible to use.
