It give the skin a light "glimmer" which immediately makes it appear smoother. It doubles well as a primer because my foundation seems more even when I use it on top of the serum. Be sure to use a sunscreen as well as the serum doesn't contain any UV protection. The gel is quickly absorbed and the skin feels immediately smoother and velvety. It definitely does help heal and prevent blemishes. I've been using the serum for 3 weeks now. The serum has a similar texture to a foundation primer as it has a gel consistency but once absorbed it has a velvety finish. I applied it only at night as I didn't want to add another step to my morning routine. I have darker areas around my mouth, nose and on my forehead which is common on women of colour.
