I normally used it when I had a clip on pony it pt onto my hair and the gel would keep my hair down. It's a great product, doesn't flake at all. You need to apply it to relaxed hair, it worked and looked better then. I did try it on natural hair and it didn't work very well and required you to use more of the product which i thought was a waste. Once applied on relaxed hair, you don't really have to keep reapplying, I only did touch-ups once a week. It smells good as well, and it is very easy to just wash out.
