Cala is definitely a dupe to the high end make up brushes. I love thee brushes as well n the sponge is amazing. It blends effortlessly n it doesn't absorb too much product
Wonderful sponge but I don't like how it sucks up most of the foundation, it's easy to wash but definitely starts to tear up. I would recommend investing in a high-end beauty blender. For R60 it's okay but if you're not willing to keep replacing it, STAY AWAY
I prefer using a beauty sponge to a brush to blend my makeup as I feel the finish is more natural. This one from Cala is great. It is affordable, has a good density when wet, and bounces nicely across the skin without absorbing too much product. I use it every day and wash it often, and it is holding up well with no tears.
I was excited to find a similar shaped beauty sponge to the og beautyblender at such an affordable price!
A few months later I bought the og beautyblender, to see if it's really that much different and better than the Cala Beauty Sponge. I was surprised to find that this sponge gives the exact same finish as the beautyblender, at a fraction of the price! Although the beautyblender is softer, less dense and a little more bouncier, it's just the same as this beauty sponge.
For the price, I would definitely save some money and repurchase this one instead.
Recently discovered this product. When dampened, it expands quite a bit and is not very dense which is great. The shape is good as it has both a rounded side and a pointy side. The hourglass-like curve ensure a good grip when pouncing on foundation. The only issue I have is that it seems to tear after washing it a few times. But it is so inexpensive, it's really not a big deal to buy a new one.
After much hesitation I finally bought a beauty blender. I have always used a foundation brush from Bobby Brown that works wonders. Lets just say im probably never going to use any brush again. The Beauty Blender is such a perfect little applicator for foundation, concealer and powder. i can apply my foundation in half the time now and it gives such a flawless finish. the foundation just goes everywhere you want it to go.
I was actually looking for a more expensive beauty blender like the Ubu one but they seemed to be sold out everywhere. I found the Cala beauty blender at Dischem for about R53 and decided to get it since I had no other options. I took the last one on the shelf and now I wish they had more stock because I would love to buy another one.
When I first used the blender I wasnt quite sure of what everyone's idea of damp was.
So I just ran the blender back and forth under light running water two or three times and it turned out to be perfect - so I just always do it like that. I then dot the foundation onto my face in random places and then just "dab" the blender until the foundation is perfectly flawless. I then set it with a powder and I have a perfectly matt, pore free base to work on.
I highly recommend a beauty blender. And clearly the cheaper ones do as just a good job as the highly over priced ones.
