MPL hairfood as been a pivotal part of my childhood and I absolutely love the smell of the original and coconut. It leaves your hair nourished and well moisturized without leaving excessive residue as the day progresses. Great for baseing your scalp when you have braids.
MPL has been a product I have used for years. It’s an old time favorite that just got better.
I love how they have evolved and added new versions of the product, to cater to all hair problems.
This oil is great for all types of hair, whether used to base the scalp or just help maintain the hairs moisture.
Love it and would recommend it, plus it doesn’t break the bank, and a little goes a long way.
I transitioned back to natural hair about two years ago, and have been experimenting with a lot of different products to see what works best for my #4CHair. I can safely say I've figured out what my hair loves and what product to use for my desired effect. I've always used MPL hair oil alternating between the Coconut oil and the Sure To Grow oil to help restore my edges. Currently my hair is the healthiest and longest it's ever been. I find the MPL Coconut oil helps keep my hair moisturized for longer (my hair finds it hard to retain moisture) and makes styling much easier.
I would definitely recommend this product for someone wanting thicker, stronger hair.
When I cut my hair short last year I was not planning to grow an afro as it was "apparently" hard work to grow an afro. And then a friend of mine recommended the MPL Coconut Oil for scalp treatment. Now I love my healthy hair and scalp. Go on and get it and its very cheap too.
I Started using MPL Coconut oil by chance, when my hairstylist just put some for me after I had relaxed my hair. Personally I enjoy this product but I use it sparingly.
How to use
Option 1: You can use it like you would any treatment put a bit onto your scalp and a tiny amount onto your hair.
Option 2 (my favorite) : use it as a hot (hot) oil treatment, the oil on its own once on the scalp has a warm sensation, in this method you can boil a cup of water and put your oil inside the cup of water to heat it up some more. thereafter you can apply to your scalp. I love this method because it feels so wonderful and it speeds up the process and strengthens my hair. (if you want to go the extra mile, you can then proceed with the inversion method http://naijahaircangrow.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-inversion-test-results-are-in.html )
Pros: Strengthens and promotes hair growth, also helps with itching.
Cons: It is a very heavy concentrated oil, so use it sparingly. It also doesn't smell so great.
I use my oil about twice a month, i just make sure to use it around times where I know i will be washing my hair as i do not like the smell.
Price & Purchase Points
I usually buy mine at clicks, however I have seen it at small salons as well as many supermarkets. It does not cost above R100 I just can not remember the price.
This is a great product for natural and relaxed ethnic hair. Since ethnic hair continuously needs a well moisturized scalp, the MPL Hair Oil - Coconut is the best option, and I have been using it for the past 4 years on my natural hair. For best results use it as a scalp treatment after every hair wash. Leaves the scalp well moisturized, without being greasy. The coconut factor nourishes and feeds the root of the hair. This stimulates hair growth and gives your hair volume and strength.
I definitely would recommend especially to those with receding hairlines and hair that is braided or weaved as a scalp treatment.
